Reviews
We had 2 flights and tried 8 different ciders and sours. Our favorite was the Blueberry Sour but the Extra Dry was an exceptional example of classic cider. The Pepper Peak was uniquely spicy and the Crimson & Mint (rhubarb + mint cider) was incredibly refreshing. The Grapefruit Lavender was new on tap and leaned heavily into the lavender (which I LOVE) with subtle grapefruit notes.
Patio is dog friendly (on leash, well behaved). Large interior space with mostly high top tables. Seemed kid-friendly as well. Saw several people who rode their bikes here.
Great variations of flavors! Blown away by all the flavor choices of cider. They allow dogs outside and they also have food trucks near the sitting area outside. I’m sure the food trucks is based on food truck availability. My Friends and I had pizza and wings with our cider because of the food truck mountain pies and it was great. It was a great atmosphere inside and out and the staff was very nice and helpful. Also, because of all the cider options I had a flight which was really enjoyable and a great way to try a bunch of ciders at once.
Wow! The variety, flavors, balance, and vibe of this place absolutely call for another visit. If you're into cider this is a must visit stop in Anchorage. Grab some cans to go or stay for a full tasting. They also have food trucks roll in with delicious options so make an afternoon of it. Ginger gose, lavender mint, pineapple, and more. Love this and will definitely be back.
They had many interesting and yummy types of cider to choose from and knowledgeable staff that were able to make great recommendations. The flights were priced very well considering the large amount of each cider that comes in it. We had a great time!
So happy to finally experience Alaskan brewed cider! As a big fan of Oregon and Washington ciders, Double Shovel is a treat.
If you are curious at all, check this place out! Cider is way better than you may be thinking.
I stopped in while I was in town because I'm a big AWP fan, and I'm glad I did!
Each of the ciders I had in my flight of 4 were tasty. They had a nice variety of options. Pepper Peak was the perfect drink to accompany my cubano from the Pikiniki food truck that was on site.
The atmosphere was chill and friendly. As a solo traveler, I appreciated that the patio had seating options other than tables of 4+. I hate awkwardly taking up a whole table meant for more, and it was too beautiful of a day to sit inside at the bar.
My only complaint is not in their power to change. The 8 PM close time makes it difficult to stop by if you're trying to fit in a hike after work first. I guess I'll need to stock up on some cans.
It's my first time here, and I will definitely be back. Try a sample of each cider before committing to just one. Great atmosphere.
Double Shovel is an excellent hangout spot! They have delicious ciders and a good rotation of food trucks. Being dog-freindly is another huge plus! We were in town for 2 weeks and went 3 times haha!
